What are the best black leggings?

We get it.

Although a seasonal hue or a fun print is novel and great to include in your workout wardrobe, nothing comes close to the perfect pair of black leggings. Nothing (I'm being dramatic here but once you find them you will understand).

With so many styles and designs available within the black leggings space we have broken them all down and summed it up for you here so that you have all the details you need to select the perfect pair of black leggings for you.

Lilybod Astrid Ultra-Core Leggings - This style is the cult-classic, the OG if you will and is a best-seller for a reason.

Astrid is sleek, smooth, suitably compressive and without fuss. She can be worn to the gym but she is also so elegant she can be paired with a cute tee, chunky trainers and a blazer for a more street-style ensemble.

On a personal note, I recently parted with my original pair of Astrid that I acquired when I first began working with Lilybod back in 2021. Yes leggings don't last forever and this pair saw me through countless gym sessions, lazy days at home and trips out running errands with my kids. 

Lilybod Baseline Ultra-Core Leggings - Baseline is a core staple legging style for those who enjoy a little more body contouring seaming to add interest to an otherwise basic style.

She has a little more detail than Astrid with a more utilitarian appearance, hugs you in all the right places and compresses the waist a little more. Baseline leggings are great for those who train hard. The corresponding sports bra is also one of my personal favourites with its adjustable cross straps.

Lilybod Zoe Super-Core Leggings - Zoe is our figure-hugging best-seller because she can take you anywhere. Minimal and with two side phone pockets she is perfect for walking, running (the sporty kind but also running errands) and for those who are always on the go with phone and keys in hand (now conveniently in your leggings pocket).

Like all of the above-mentioned styles Zoe is available in a slew of colours but the OG black sells like hotcakes and is hard to keep in stock. Did I mention she is also available in a 7/8 length too? Well I just did :)

Lilybod Chloe Cloud-Core Leggings - And then Chloe arrived...

The newest kid on the block and undoubtably one that Lilybod aficionados have been waiting for. The new LilySoft fabric. Just divine. 

If you have ever paid a pretty penny for a pair of leggings by another brand starting with L in their most popular style then this is the Lilybod version and it is incredible. 

Chloe is ultra soft, flexible and so figure hugging I can go between two sizes comfortably. She is front seam free so that is the only place where she doesn't hug your body (my girlies will get this).

Chloe is perfect for yoga, pilates, lounging, period days when your body needs comfort and days when less compression is required.
